Maiden´s well, built for the price of some dresses? At the end of the high-altitude street Pirinska, are one of Strumicas lesser-known attractions. A place that in ancient times was a resting place along the road to Thessalonice. It is said that it was built by a Turkish man who lost his daughter. Her last wish was that her father would sell her clothes and build a new well. Fact or myth? I myself have lived on the street for a short time, and can at least attest that it still serves as a meeting- and resting place, in the afternoons and evenings. Comments
